Iraqi Government: Syria not involved in the Iraqi violence

Syris is not supporting, funding, helping or even turning a blind eye to the violence in Iraq. Syria's not involved. That's according to the Iraqi Transport Minister Awdeh Al-Maliki, who left Damascus today after a three day visit.

"I can assure you that the Syrian government has nothing to do with what is happening in Iraq,” he said.

Also today the Iraqi government switched its anger from Syria to Jordan. Government spokesman Laith Kubba said that the insurgency is being supported from inside Jordan, and that support is "unacceptable". He said that former Ba'athists are beign harboured in Jordan and are supporting the rebels in Iraq.

The king of Jordan is hostile to a shiite state as a neighbor. He said it in a column in the Washington post before the Iraki elections a year ago which went unnoticed despite being without nuances. His hostility extends to a probable shiite crescent formed by Iran, Irak and what it is perceived as an alaouite state in Syria. However this matter of fact does not please the US because Jordan is their ally. Another US ally, Saudi Arabia, joins Jordan in this hostility. This may introduce a great instability in the area since the shiite hold on the new irak is here to stay.

Oh, I forget that the shiite crescent includes Lebanon and this is why Saudi Arabia is said to have contributed to the ousting of Syria from this country because the syrians were the allies of the shiites in Lebanon.
