Syrian workers arrested in Beirut
A number of Syrian workers have been arrested in connection with this morning's killing of George Hawi.
Maybe this shows that the Lebanese Police are doing their job well for once. They were criticised for their abject failures in the aftermath of the Hariri bomb - they damaged and lost evidence, and came up with no clear conclusion. In following attacks they issued incorrect statements about the number of dead.
After the murder of Rafiq Al-Hariri many Syrians were attacked and beaten according to Amnesty International. Others fled back to Syria.
In the minutes following the bomb this morning American investigators were suspiciously spotted on scene.
Syria should modernise it,s economy on a free market bases and establish a tax system to support the country in doing the things which are needed for national security and the things that are too expensive for indiveuals to establish ,encorage small buisnes and get out of thier way all, that will produce excitement and jobs in the country and will bring the hard working syrians from Lebanon and other ungratfull countries. I find it strange that news immediately after the bombing stated that they had arrested 4 or 5 Syrians on a rooftop overlooking the bombsite, and they suspected that the bomb was set-off by remote (e.g.:radio) control. But I have not seen any followup on this item, describing the outcome of further investigation and whether the Syriaans were arrested or released. If anyone knows, please post it here and give a reference. Thanks.

There is another theory on the assasination of Hawi which was prepared by Stratfor, an Austin, Texas-based outfit (USA) specializing in intelligence and counter-terrorism analysis. You can find a description of it:
