SNAP SNAP SNAP: Israel and Syria in peace talks

Turkey is mediating. Israeli Prime Minister's office confirms it. The sticking point up until now was that the Israelis had wanted to keep it secret, but Syria didn't.

Can today get any better?

Very interesting timing don't u think? ;)

Ah, this middle east of ours...

Let's hope for the best.

And, YES... Qatar has propelled itself as a major regional player, and hub. This is very interesting, because it is eating out the role of Saudia and [MOST of all] Egypt. And they obviously are doing a much better job..

Well, it's the only country in the region which knows how to act impartially. Good on them.

I think it won't be long before the 'Arab street' (whatever that is!!) recognises that. No-one will forget how Qatar was doing more reconstruction work on the ground in South Lebanon after the Israeli attacks than the Hariri/Siniora government.
